Common Questions About Full-Arch Dental Implants
What are full-arch dental implants?
Instead of using one implant for each replacement tooth, your dentist will secure a full arch of new teeth to several implants. Typically four implants are used for each arch. This procedure offers many advantages, including affordability and a quicker recovery period. It can be used to replace teeth in your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both jaws.
How long does it take to get full-arch dental implants?
Before the actual procedure you will have a thorough exam, including 3-D imaging, so we can identify the best places in your jawbone to support your implants. It typically takes about two-and-a-half hours per arch for Dr. Daboul to place the implants and attach a temporary arch of teeth to them. Once your implants have fused to your bone, a process that may take a few months, you'll return to our office to receive the final arch of teeth.
What type of maintenance do full-arch dental implants require?
One of the advantages of full-arch implants is that, unlike conventional dentures, they don't require any kind of special care. You simply brush and floss every day, just as you do with your natural teeth. Visiting your dentist regularly for exams and cleanings also helps keep your implants in great shape.
